Tokyo Jihen: Revisted

One of my first posts here was on the Japanese band, Tokyo Jihen. Led by the legendary Shiina Ringo, Tokyo Jihen's signature sound (see: Tokyo Incidents) blends standard jazz hooks with super stylized rock. The result is  delicious and uncomplicated.

Older Stuff

Newish Stuff (Off Variety, 2007)

Four  years ago, I inadvertently downloaded a live version of Tokyo Jihen's single "Maronouchi Sadistic" off a now-defunct mp3 blog. Unlike most of the crap I scraped off the internet in those days (mp3 blogs were still coming into their own), Tokyo Jihen piqued my interest. I even spent $30 importing a single from Japan.

Today, I discovered a wide assortment of YouTube videos on various versions of Marunouchi Sadistic--some of them by the band, and others by Japanese bands covering the song. Check em' out.
