The square pixels of my heart

Every once in a while, I grow profoundly nostalgic for my old Nintendo. Like, there's a funny little ache in my hands to hold that sweaty, grey controller. To park the tip of my right thumb on that slightly concave red "B" button, and run fast across a side scrolling screen.

Many of the musicians that grew up in the 80s and early 90s were marked by the sounds of the original NES. Those tinny, electronic melodies that skipped and dotted across our Saturday and Sunday afternoons are reappearing in indie pop songs everywhere. Below is an example of what I'm guessing is NES-inspired electropopclashindiewhateveryouwannacallit music.
